Course Assignment 1: Hans and Helga

Web Design, HTML and CSS
Project Overview
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean.

The brief for this assignment was to make a website for a restaurant. The main task was to design and code an online menu for the restaurant from scratch using HTML and CSS. The website needed to be responsive, which means it should work on web, phone and tablet. We could choose between two different restaurants and I went with Hans and Helga. It's a restaurant that offers meat, vegan and vegetarian burgers.

A part of the process when doing this project was to research and sketch the design ideas. Doing research is crucial in any project. The brief stated that one page would be enough but I made three pages; home, menu and contact. I made protoypes for web, tablet and phone. There has been some changes from the prototype landing page and colors to how it looks today, but that's all part of the process.

I wanted the brand to have a modern style and vibrant approach so that's what I based the logo and the web design on. I didn't want to go the traditional way of designing burger menus, which usually consists of black, yellow and red. I went with orange as the primary color because it grabs people's attention and feels more modern.

Since this course did not cover javascript, we only needed to have a simple navigation on mobile view.
